Methods of preparing an acrylic polymer according to the present invention comprise the steps of: forming a gelled polymer by polymerizing a mixture containing an acrylic monomer and a photoinitiator; comminuting the gelled polymer to produce gel particles; and irradiating the gel particles with light to decompose the photoinitiator, simultaneously with, or after, the step of comminuting. The gel particles may be irradiated with UV light while they are being dried in a fluid-bed dryer.

L'invention concerne des procédés de préparation d'un polymère acrylique, consistant à former un polymère gélifié par polymérisation d'un mélange contenant un monomère acrylique et un photoamorceur, à fragmenter le polymère gélifié pour produire des particules gélifiées, et à irradier les particules gélifiées de lumière de façon à décomposer le photoamorceur, simultanément ou après l'étape de fragmentation. Les particules gélifiées peuvent être irradiées de lumière UV pendant qu'elles sont séchées dans un dispositif de séchage à lit fluidisé.
