PROCESS FOR EXTRACTING MINERAL FIBRES FROM ROCKS . - ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE . - This invention relates to a process for extracting mineral fibres, generally known as "asbestos" from rocks and the like and for obtain- ing rock free from fibre. The process according to the invention comprises a raw material trituration operation and fibre opening and purification opera- tions. Before undergoing the latter operations and before any removal of the strongly magnetic grains present in the raw material, the triturated rock has added to it a small quantity of ferromagnetic powder with which it is intimately mixed, and the mixture obtained is subjected to magnetic grading to separate a magnetic concentrate consisting of grains rich in fibre from a waste product practically free from fibre.
