Abstract A process is described for manufacturing a product from natural non-transparent quartz (milky quartz), this product being suitable for producing pure quartz glass, as well as a process for processing this product fur- ther to produce a shaped body made of pure quartz glass. It is also set forth that this product is suitable as a starting material for growing piezo- electric crystals in an autoclave.
