A process for preparation of a 2-substituted- 1,4-naphthoquinone which comprises oxidizing a 2-substituted naphthalene to obtain reaction products comprising a 2-substituted-1,4-naphthoquinone and a 6-substituted-1,4-naphthoquinone; adding a diene compound to the reaction products and heating the mixture to form a Diels-Alder reaction adduct between the diene compound and the 6-substituted-1,4-naphthoquinone in the reaction products; and separating the 2-substituted-1,4- naphthoquinone from the adduct.

rocédé de préparation d'une 1,4-naphtoquinone substituée en 2 qui consiste à oxyder du naphtalène substitué en 2 pour obtenir des produits de réaction comprenant une 1,4-naphtoquinone substituée en 2 et une 1,4-naphtoquinone substituée en 6; à ajouter un composé diénique aux produits de réaction et à chauffer le mélange pour former un composé d'addition résultant d'une réaction de Diels-Alder entre le composé diénique et la 1,4-naphtoquinone substituée en 6 dans les produits de réaction; et à séparer la 1,4-naphtoquinone substituée en 2 du composé d'addition.
