ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for producing 1,4-naphthoquinone by oxi- dizing naphthalene with a molecular oxygen in the vapor phase in the presence of a catalyst. The catalyst is a mixture of a carrier and fusible catalytic components including vanadium oxide and alkali metal sulfate and pyrosulfate and has a con- figuration having one or more through-holes.
