ABSTRACT A process for the production of a pliable roller, in which a flexible strip with at least one longitudinally extending fold and a tension element contained in the fold are used. The folded strip is applied to the roller and wound thereon during the formation of adjacent windings in the form of coils. The tension element and the strip are secured together prior to the conduct of the winding process, thus enabling higher winding speeds and ensuring dimensional uniformity of the roller so produced.
