The invention relates to a method for producing bis(trifluoromethyl)imido salts of general formula (I): [Ma+] -[N(CF3)2]a, by reacting a trifluoromethane sulfonate of general formula (II), (Ma+)[(OSO2CF3)-]a, in which Ma+ is a monovalent or bivalent cation and a = 1 or 2, with bis(trifluoromethyl)imido rubidium.
