A mineral charge containing briquettes is melted in a furnace to form a melt from which man-made vitreous fibres are formed. The briquettes are novel and are compression moulded briquettes of particulate inorganic material bonded by a bonding agent which comprises molasses, usually with lime. The briquettes may include vegetable or other fibres to improve green strength.
On fait fondre dans un four une charge minérale contenant des briquettes de ferro-alliage afin de former un bain de fusion à partir duquel on forme des fibres vitreuses synthétiques. Ces briquettes sont nouvelles et résultent du moulage par compression d'un matériau inorganique particulaire lié au moyen d'un agent de liaison comprenant des mélasses, ainsi que généralement de la chaux. Ces briquettes peuvent comprendre des fibres végétales ou autres afin d'améliorer la résistance à l'état vert.
