A projection display composed of a plurality of tiles (101) is illuminated by a plurality of projectors (400), one for each tile. The light from a common light source (200) is transmitted to a light separation unit (300) over a first set of fiber optic cables (501), the separation unit separating the light into individual primary colors either spatially or sequentially. The individual primary colors are then transmitted over a second set of fiber optic cables (502) to the individual projectors.
