ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A quickly adjustable nut assembly including a body having an axial passageway adapted to receive a threaded shaft for axial sliding movement through the passageway, and a transverse socket communicating with the axial bore. A plunger disposed in the socket has a transverse aperture which also receives the shaft, has an inner threaded portion that can engage the threads on the shaft, and an outer portion that allows axial sliding movement of the shaft through the nut. A spring biases the threads on the plunger into engagement with the shaft but the plunger can be manually moved against the spring to align the outer portion of the apertures and allow sliding movement of the nut assembly. The peripheral surface of the nut is knurled and marked with precision graduations to facilitate precision locating of the nut assembly by rotating it on the threaded shaft.
