A housing unit for domestic pets, such as rabbits and guinea-pigs, is known to have a base tray supporting extensions of its side walls. The base tray floor may be covered with wood shavings or similar material. In this accessory invention a raised floor of welded wire mesh is inserted from above into the base tray thus keeping the housed animal dry and clean of debris and also helping to eliminate debris from appearing around the vicinity of the location of the housing unit.
