A method and apparatus is disclosed for mounting a rail (e.g., fence, stair or banister) to a support structure (e.g., a post, wall, etc.), wherein a rail mounting bracket is provided that allows the rail to be supported within an interior of the bracket in a desired position until the rail can be fixedly secured to the bracket in the desired position. The bracket provides various projections from its face that allows a rail to be supported and fixed to the bracket at an upwardly and/or downwardly inclined angle relative to the bracket face. The bracket is designed to withstand various loads specified by building standards for composition fences and banisters.

Procédé et appareil de montage d'un rail, (notamment pour clôture, escalier ou rampe d'escalier) sur une structure de support (notamment un poteau, un mur, etc.), le support de montage du rail permettant de supporter le rail à l'intérieur du support dans une position souhaitée jusqu'à ce que le rail puisse être fixé à demeure sur le support dans la position souhaitée. Le support présente différentes saillies à partir de sa face, qui permet au rail d'être supporté et fixé sur le support selon un angle incliné vers le haut et/ou vers le bas par rapport à la face de support. Le support est conçu pour résister à différentes charges spécifiées par les normes de construction pour le montage de clôtures et de rampes d'escalier.
