A set of contiguous and partially overlapping cDNA sequences and polypeptides encoded thereby, designated as CS198 and transcribed from GI tract tissue, is described. These sequences are useful for detecting, diagnosing, staging, monitoring, prognosticating, preventing or treating, or determining the predisposition of an individual to diseases and conditions of the GI tract, such as GI tract cancer. Also provided are antibodies which specifically bind to CS198-encoded polypeptide or protein, and agonists or inhibitors which prevent action of the tissue-specific CS198 polypeptide, which molecules are useful for the therapeutic treatment of GI tract diseases, tumors or metastases.
L'invention a trait à un ensemble de séquences d'ADN complémentaire à superposition partielle ainsi qu'à des polypeptides codés par ces séquences, ensemble désigné sous le vocable de CS198 et transcrit du tissu du tractus digestif. Ces séquences sont utilisées aux fins de la détection, de la stadification, de la surveillance, du pronostic et de la prévention ou du traitement de maladies ou d'états pathologiques du tractus digestif ou encore de la détermination de la prédisposition d'un individu à ces maladies ou états pathologiques, le cancer du tractus notamment. L'invention concerne également des anticorps se liant de manière spécifique à une protéine ou un polypeptide codé par CS198, ainsi que des agonistes ou des inhibiteurs entravant l'activité du polypeptide de CS198 spécifique du tissu, ces molécules étant utilisées à des fins thérapeutiques, notamment pour ce qui est de troubles, de tumeurs ou de métastases intéressant le tractus digestif.
