A protein designated TRAIL receptor binds the protein known as TNF-Related Apoptosis-Inducing Ligand (TRAIL). The TRAIL receptor finds use in purifying TRAIL or inhibiting activities thereof. Isolated DNA sequences encoding TRAIL- R polypeptides are provided, along with expression vectors containing the DNA sequences, and host cells transformed with such recombinant expression vectors. Antibodies that are immunoreactive with TRAIL-R are also provided.

L'invention porte sur une protéine appelée récepteur TRAIL qui fixe la protéine connue sous le nom de ligand induisant l'apoptose apparentée au TNF (TRAIL). Le récepteur TRAIL peut être utilisé dans la purification de TRAIL ou dans l'inhibition de ses activités. L'invention porte également sur des séquences d'ADN isolées codant les polypeptides TRAIL-R, ainsi que sur les vecteurs d'expression contenant les séquences d'ADN, et sur les cellules hôtes transformées par ces vecteurs d'expression recombinés. Des anticorps ayant une réactivité immunologique vis à vis de TRAIL-R sont également décrits.
