The invention concerns a refractory material comprised essentially of vitreous silica and presenting an improved resistance to corrosion by molten metals, principally aluminium. It contains at least 0.1 % and no more than 10 % by wt. of barium sulfate. It has a crystallized silica content of less than 10 % and it is comprised of at least 75 % vitreous or amorphous silica.
Cette invention concerne une matière réfractaire, composée essentiellement de verre de silice, qui offre une résistance accrue à la corrosion par les métaux fondus, principalement l'aluminium. Cette matière contient au minimum 0,1 % et au maximum 10 % en poids de sulfate de baryum. Elle a un contenu en silice cristallisée inférieur à 10 % et elle est constituée de 75 % au minimum de verre de silice ou de silice amorphe.
