A two-way communications system provides ubiquitous wireless data communication services, such as throughout the continental United States, by using a network of only a few, widely distributed radio base station (RBS) sites (60) and the existing paging network infrastructure (40). A network hub or mission operation center (30) coordinates the operation of the paging systems (40) and RBSs (60) from a central location. The paging network infrastructure (40) is used as an outbound link over which each of the field units (50) is regularly provided with an outbound data message (45) containing information on the available frequencies and time slots the field units (50) can use to transmit inbound data messages (55) to the RBSs (60).

L'infrastructure du réseau de radiomessagerie (40), permet d'établir les liaison du trafic sortant en vue d'approvisioner régulièrement chacune des unités extérieures (50) en messages de données sortants (45), qui contiennent l'information relative aux fréquences et aux intervalles de temps disponibles que les unités extérieures (50) en question peuvent utiliser afin de transmettre les messages de données du trafic entrant (55) à destination des stations de base (60).
