An acousto-optic modulator (20) includes an acousto-optic bulk medium (42) and a transducer (26) attached to the acousto-optic bulk medium and formed as a linear array of electrodes (28). A transducer driver (22) is connected to each electrode (28) and is coherently phase driven to alter the distribution of an acoustic field and alternately allow and inhibit phase matching between the optical and acoustic field and produce a desired intensity modulation of an optical wavef ront. A plurality of monolitic RF amplifiers (30) supplies power to the array of electrodes (28).

L'invention concerne un modulateur acousto-optique comprenant une substance d'acousto-optique et un transducteur fixé sur la substance de base acoustique-optique, et formé sous la forme d'un réseau d'électrodes linéaire. Un circuit d'attaque de transducteur est relié à chaque électrode, et est entraîné en phase de manière cohérente pour modifier la répartition de moment angulaire d'un champ acoustique, et permettre et empêcher en alternance une correspondance de phases entre le champ optique et le champ acoustique, et produire une modulation d'intensité souhaitée d'un front d'onde optique.
