A method for communicating a list of handover candidates in a wireless local area network from a station to a serving access point (AP) begins by determining a list of handover candidate APs at the station. The candidate list is sorted at the station and is sent to the serving AP. The sending step can include sending the candidate list to the serving AP upon the expiration of a predetermined period of time or upon receipt at the station of an event trigger. The method can also include the step of requesting a candidate list from the station by the serving AP.
L'invention concerne un procédé destiné à la transmission d'une liste de candidats de transfert dans un réseau local sans fil, entre une station et un point d'accès de service, consistant à déterminer une liste de points d'accès de candidats de transfert au niveau de la station. Cette liste de candidats est triée au niveau de la station, puis transmise au point d'accès de service. L'étape de transmission peut consister à transmettre la liste de candidats au point d'accès de service à la fin d'une période de prédéterminée ou lors de la réception d'un déclencheur d'événement au niveau de la station. Le procédé peut également consister à demander une liste de candidats à la station depuis le point d'accès de service.
