Abstract A rotary piston machine with parallel internal axes comprises an externally toothed (12) and an internally toothed gear (5). The gears (5, 12) turn and planetate relatively to each other. The first gear (12) comprises operative peripheral sections (16) interspersed with intoperative sections (18) which make no contact with the second gear (5). A distributing valve (19) comprises two sets of control orifices (20; 23, 24). The passages (21) extending from the first control orifices (20) open in the region of the inoperative sections (18). Auxiliary passages (32) are provided on the second gear (5). They interconnect the adjacent compression chambers on each side of the line of symmetry (S) extending between the enlarging and reducing compression chambers (17) but do not make a connection across the line of symmetry (S).
