The invention concerns a traction chain designed to be mounted on the tread of a vehicle wheel, particularly the wheel of a heavy vehicle like a skidder. This chain comprises a number of round rings positioned in a regular pattern such that each ring is equidistant from all other rings closest to it. This chain also comprises a number of links loosely attached to the rings so as to connect each ring to the rings closest to it. Each link is comprised of a piece of metal of substantially constant rectangular section whose width greatly exceeds its thickness. This piece forms a flattened loop in which the rings are loosely attached. This loop has flat top and bottom surfaces which lie in planes substantially parallel to those in which the adjacent rings lie. This loop also has opposite ends which are of the same width as the top and bottom surfaces and have each an inner surface rounded to a radius identical to or slightly less than the radius of the rings. By virtue of the shape of these flat links which can be fitted with studs if necessary, this traction chain is both very effective and very strong. Its service life is almost twice as long as that of existing chains.
L'invention concerne une chaîne de traction destinée à être montée sur la bande de roulement d'une roue de véhicule, et plus spécifiquement de la roue d'un véhicule lourd tel qu'une débusqueuse. Cette chaîne comprend une pluralité d'anneaux ronds répartis de façon régulière et de telle sorte que chaque anneau soit disposé à une même distance de tous les autres anneaux qui lui sont les plus proches. Cette chaîne comprend aussi une pluralité de maillons montés de façon libre sur les anneaux pour relier chacun de ceux-ci à ceux qui lui sont les plus proches. Chaque maillon est constitué d'une pièce de métal de section rectangulaire sensiblement constante ayant une largeur très supérieure à son épaisseur. Cette pièce forme une boucle aplatie dans laquelle sont librement montés les anneaux. Cette boucle a des faces supérieure et inférieure qui sont planes et s'étendent dans des plans sensiblement parallèles à ceux dans lesquels s'étendent les anneaux adjacents. Cette boucle a aussi des extrémités opposées qui ont la même largeur que les faces supérieure et inférieure et ont chacun une surface interne arrondie selon un rayon de courbure identique ou légèrement inférieur au rayon des anneaux. Grâce à la forme de ses maillons plats qui peuvent être pourvus de crampons si cela est nécessaire, cette chaîne de traction est non seulement très efficacemais très résistante. En fait, sa durée d'utilisation est presque le double de celle des chaînes existantes.
