RRP genes are identified as modulators of the p53 or p21 pathway, and thus are therapeutic targets for disorders associated with defective p53 or p21 function. Methods for identifying modulators of p53 or p21, comprising screening for agents that modulate the activity of RRP are provided. Modulating agents identified using the methods of the invention can be used to specifically inhibit growth of tumor cells that overexpress an RRP protein. mRRPI knockout mice are also provided.

L'invention porte ~galement sur des m~thodes d'identification des modulateurs du p53 ou du p21 par criblage d'agents modulant l'activit~ des RRP, et sur les agents modulateurs identifi~s ~ l'aide des m~thodes de l'invention et pouvant servir ~ inhiber sp~cifiquement la croissance de cellules tumorales surexprimant une prot~ine RRP. L'invention porte en outre sur des mRRPI de souris knock-out.
