A coating aluminized steel sheet suitable for fuel tanks, which comprises (a) a steel sheet, (b) an aluminized-plating layer formed on one or both sides of the steel sheet and based on aluminum or an aluminum alloy containing 2-15 wt% silicon, and (c) a coating layer formed on at least one of the aluminizing layers and selected from the group consisting of i) a resin chromate film having a film thickness of 0.1-2 µm and containing a resin and a chromic acid compound, with the resin/metal chromium weight ratio in the range of 0.5-18, ii) an inorganic-based chromate film with the coating layer formed to 10-200 mg/m2 in terms of metallic chromium, which comprises 100 parts by weight of a chromic acid compound in terms of metallic chromium and 100-1000 parts by weight of colloidal silica, and further comprises any one or more of 100-600 parts by weight of a phosphoric acid compound, 10-200 parts by weight of a phosphoric acid or phosphoric acid salt compound and less than 50 parts by weight of a resin, and iii) an inorganic-based chromate film with a coating amount of at least 10 mg/m2 and less than 35 mg/m2 in terms of metallic chromium. There are provided automobile fuel tanks with excellent durability, forming formability and weldability, and a seam welding process for fuel tanks.
Plaque d'acier de protection consistant en (a) une plaque d'acier, (b) une couche de plaquage en aluminium formée sur une face ou sur les deux faces de la plaque d'acier et constituée d'aluminium ou d'un alliage d'aluminium contenant de 2 à 15 % en poids de silicium, et (c) une couche de revêtement formée sur au moins une couche de plaquage en aluminium mentionnée ci-dessus. La couche de plaquage en aluminium consiste en un des films suivants: i) un film de chromate résineux d'une épaisseur allant de 0,1 à 2 mu m contenant une résine et un chromate et ayant un rapport pondéral résine/chrome métallique compris entre 0,5 et 18; ii) un film de chromate inorganique en une quantité comprise entre 10 et 200 mg/m<2> calculée sur le chrome métallique, et contenant 100 parties en poids de chromate calculée en fonction du chrome métallique et 100 à 1000 parties en poids de silice colloïdale calculées d'après le chrome métallique, et un ou plusieurs des éléments suivants: 100-600 parties en poids de phosphate, 10-200 parties en poids de phosphonate et moins de 50 parties en poids de résine; iii) un film de chromate inorganique dont la quantité est égale ou supérieure à 10 mg/m<2> et inférieure à 35 mg/m<2> d'après la quantité de chrome métallique. La plaque d'acier revêtue d'aluminium est appropriée à la fabrication de réservoir de carburant. L'invention décrit également un réservoir de carburant pour véhicules automobiles ayant d'excellentes caractéristiques de durabilité, aptitude au formage et au soudage; l'invention décrit aussi un procédé de soudage par joints de réservoirs de carburant.
