A wearable iontophoresis device for the prolonged delivery of a positively charged pharmaceutical species from a salt formulation is disclosed that includes a readily oxidizable metal-based sacrificial anode in the form of a generally planar layer having a connecting area that has a width that is sufficient to insure complete consumption of the oxidizable metal wherein the an-ode is configured to have a minimum operating life of at least 6 hours under skin-safe conditions, and a drug delivery gel pad in electrical contact with said anode for accommodating a gel containing a positively charged pharmaceutical species in salt form for-mulated for transdermal delivery.
Linvention concerne un dispositif portable diontophorèse pour la distribution prolongée dune espèce pharmaceutique chargée positivement à partir dune formule saline qui comprend une anode sacrificielle facilement oxydable à base de métal sous la forme dune couche généralement planaire comportant une zone de connexion dont la largeur suffit à assurer la consommation complète du métal oxydable, l'anode étant configurée pour une longévité de fonctionnement d'au moins 6 heures dans des conditions sûres pour la peau, et une pastille de distribution de médicament en contact électrique avec ladite anode servant à stocker un gel contenant une espèce pharmaceutique chargée positivement sous forme saline formulée pour une distribution transdermique.
