A filter element for filtering fluids and gasses flowing through a filter housing is provided. The filter element includes a permeable filter media for filtration of contaminants and a rigid frame for supporting and retaining the filter media. To ensure that gasses and fluids flow through the filter media rather than around the filter element, a resilient seal element is attached along an outer peripheral surface of the frame. The seal element can be resiliently compressed between the inner surface of the filter housing and the outer peripheral surface to create a sealing effect therebetween. To prevent the filter media from interfering with the seal element, the filter media is substantially constrained within the outer peripheral surface of the frame.
L'invention concerne un élément filtrant destiné à filtrer des fluides et des gaz s'écoulant à travers un carter de filtre. L'élément filtrant comporte un support filtrant perméable pour éliminer les contaminants par filtration, ainsi qu'un cadre rigide servant à soutenir et à retenir le support filrant. Pour veiller à ce que les gaz et les fluides passent effectivement à travers le support filtrant, au lieu de circuler autour de l'élément filtrant, on a fixé un élément de joint élastique le long d'une surface périphérique externe du cadre. L'élément de joint peut être comprimé de façon élastique entre la surface interne du carter de filtre et la surface périphérique externe afin de créer entre elles un effet de scellement. Le support filtrant est sensiblement limité à l'intérieur de la surface périphérique externe du cadre, afin d'éviter tout contact indésirable ou toute gêne entre le support filtrant et l'élément de joint.
