A saw including a saw head for receiving a saw blade, with the saw blade and displaceable in an immersion direction of the saw blade, a blade protection holder connected with the saw head, a blade protection member at least partially covering the saw blade and displaceable relative to the blade protection holder parallel to the blade immersion direction, with the blade protection member having a stop facing in the blade immersion direction and with a distance (L1) between a free end region of the blade protection member facing in the (L2) blade immersion direction and the stop corresponding at most to a distance between a mating surface of the blade protection holder facing in a direction opposite the blade immersion direction and the free end region of the blade protection member facing in the blade immersion direction, and elements for showing an immersion depth of the saw blade as the saw blade becomes immersed into a sawn component.
