The invention relates to a self-tapping and thread-forming screw (1), having a screw shank (2) with a screw tip (4) at one end and a force application point (6) at the other end for the transmission of torque. The screw shank (2) is composed of a thread section (10), which has the screw tip (4), and an adjoining thread-free shank section (12) which has the force application point (6). The thread section (10) is composed of a shank core (14) and a thread- forming thread (16). The thread section (10) has, in a region remote from the screw tip (4), a core section (20) with a polygonal core cross section which, with its corners (22), defines a circular envelope (24) with a circular envelope diameter (DH) which is greater than the shank diameter (DS) of the thread-free shank section (12).

L'invention concerne une vis autoperforante et taraudeuse (1) qui présente une tige de vis (2) dotée à une extrémité d'une pointe de vis (4) et à son autre extrémité une prise de force (6) qui assure le transfert d'un couple de rotation. La tige de vis (2) est constituée d'une partie filetée (10) orientée vers la pointe de vis (4) et d'une partie de vis (12) adjacente non filetée qui présente la prise de force (6). La partie filetée (10) est constituée d'une âme de tige (14) et d'un filet taraudeur (16). La partie filetée (10) présente dans une zone située à distance de la pointe de vis (4) une partie d'âme (20) à section transversale polygonale dont les sommets définissent un cercle d'enveloppe (24) dont le diamètre (DH) est supérieur au diamètre (DS) de la tige sur la partie de tige (12) non filetée.
