This invention concerns a device for doping silica power using a dopant, comprising: (a) means of receiving (4;504) particles (2;512) of silica soot or silica granules which have been developed beforehand; (b) means of heating (6;560) the said particles (2;512) (from which the said granules are made) contained in the said reception means (4;504) to bring them to a temperature sufficient to allow the agglomeration of the said soot particles into granules, followed by the densification of the said granules; and (c) means of supplying (7;507) to the said reception means (4;504) a gas that is a precursor of the said dopant, so that the said granules are heated in an atmosphere containing the said precursor gas, causing the said dopant to be incorporated into the said granules during their densification in order to obtain doped and densified silica grains (9;509), differentiated by the fact that the said means of reception (4;504) are mobile so that, during their movement, each of the granules they contain move sufficiently to have more or less their entire external surface exposed to the atmosphere containing the said precursor gas.

La présente invention concerne un dispositif de dopage d'une poudre de silice à l'aide d'un dopant, comprenant: - des moyens de réception (4:504) de particules (2;512) de suie de silice ou de granulés de silice préalablement élaborés, - des moyens de chauffage (6;560) desdites particules (2;512) (resp. desdits granulés) contenues dans lesdits moyens de réception (4;504), pour porter ces derniers à une température suffisante pour permettre l'agglomération desdites particules de suie en granulés, puis la densification desdits granulés, et - des moyens d'alimentation (7;507) desdits moyens de réception (4;504) en un gaz précurseur dudit dopant, de sorte que lesdits granulés sont chauffés sous une atmosphère contenant ledit gaz précurseur, ce qui provoque l'incorporation dudit dopant dans lesdits granulés pendant leur densification pour obtenir des grains de silice dopés et densifiés (9;509), caractérisé en ce que lesdits moyens de réception (4;504) sont mobiles de sorte que, durant leur mouvement, chacun desdits granulés qu'ils contiennent est animé d'unmouvement tel que sensiblement toute sa surface extérieure est exposée à l'atmosphère contenant ledit gaz précurseur.
