ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Silicic acid fibres are produced from sodium silicate fibers in a dry spinning method, the sodium silicate fibres are free of non-alkali metal compounds and have a mole Na2O : SiO2 ratio of 1 :3 to 1:9; the silicic acid fibres have properties which make them useful in friction-lining materials, for example linings.
