ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A transparent article, particularly an architectural glass product, for reflecting solar energy comprising a transparent metal compound film which is an oxide or nitride and which exhibits color by absorption and interference effects on a transparent substrate and a highly reflective metal film on the metal oxide or nitride film. A method of making the products in which both the compound film and the metal film are deposited by sputtering is also described.
