A sound deadening panel (2) for attachment to a wall, floor or ceiling structure is of variable thickness over its area to provide acoustic insulation characteristics essentially by sound reflection rather than by absorption. The panel (2) is planar on its exposed surface so as to be available for decoration but on its rear surface is profiled due to the variation in thickness. The profiling may be continuous or in discrete steps.

L'invention porte sur des panneaux amortissant le bruit (2) se fixant à un mur, au plancher ou au plafond, d'épaisseur variant sur leur surface et dont les caractéristiques d'isolation acoustique sont principalement dues à la réflexion des sons plutôt qu'à leur absorption. Lesdits panneaux (2) sont plans du côté de leur face exposée ce qui les rend utilisables pour la décoration mais présentent une face dorsale profilée en raison de leurs variations d'épaisseur, le profilé pouvant varier en continu ou par degrés.
