According to the invention, in order to produce an observation window (7) in reaction vessels, autoclaves, boilers, nuclear reactors and the like, a cubically stabilised zirconium oxide monocrystal can be used. Preferably, calcium, magnesium, yttrium or another transparent element of the heavy lanthanoids is used to stabilise zirconium oxide. Due to the excellent transparency of such observation windows (7) produced by means of a cubically stabilised zirconium oxide monocrystal, they are especially suitable for monitoring processes in situ in closed vessels such as the above-mentioned reaction vessels and the like, the processes being monitored either optically by means of photographic appliances or video appliances (1), or by means of spectroscopic methods.

Selon l'invention, pour la réalisation d'une fenêtre d'observation (7) dans des cuves à réaction, des autoclaves, des chaudières, des réacteurs nucléaires et des dispositifs analogues, il est proposé d'utiliser un monocristal d'oxyde de zirconium stabilisé cubiquement. De préférence, on utilise du calcium, du magnésium, de l'yttrium ou un autre élément transparent des lanthanoïdes lourds pour stabiliser l'oxyde de zirconium. Etant donné la remarquable transparence de telles fenêtres d'observation (7) réalisées au moyen d'un monocristal d'oxyde de zirconium cubiquement stabilisé, elles peuvent être, en particulier, utilisées pour la surveillance de processus <i>in situ</i> dans des cuves fermées, telles que les cuves à réaction susmentionnées ou analogues, la surveillance pouvant se faire soit optiquement au moyen d'un appareil photographique ou d'appareils vidéo (1), soit selon des procédés spectroscopiques.
