The present invention relates to a process for the production of a precursor material for use in the preparation of a stabilized alumina catalyst support material, which process comprises the steps of: (a) providing a mixture comprising aluminium and barium containing compounds; and (b) heating the mixture under conditions to form particles of boehmite at least partially coated with a layer comprising barium and/or a compound of barium.

L'invention concerne un procédé de production d'un matériau précurseur utilisable dans la préparation d'un matériau support pour catalyseur à l'alumine stabilisée, caractérisé en ce qu'il comprend les étapes ci-après : (a) on fournit un mélange formé de composés contenant de l'aluminium et du baryum, et (b) on chauffe le mélange dans des conditions aptes à former des particules de boehmite au moins partiellement enrobées d'une couche comprenant du baryum et/ou un composé de baryum.
