ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A stabilized aspiration biopsy needle assembly includes an introducing needle adapted to be inserted percutaneously into a human or veterinary body and advanced to the target tissue, an elongated, generally trough-shaped trocar member adapted for assembly with the introducing needle and having its distal tip extending beyond the distal tip of the introducing needle to stabilize the distal end of the introducing needle while maintaining a lumen during subsequent introduction of an aspiration needle through the introducing needle, and manipulation of the aspiration needle during aspiration procedures.
