A steel tube having a composition which contains: 0.05 to 0.30 % of C; 1.8 to 4.0 % of Mn; Si; and Al is subjected to a diameter-reducing rolling process in which the total diameter-reduction rate is no less than 20 % and the temperature at which the diameter-reducing rolling process is finished is no higher than 800 °C, whereby a structure constituted of martensite and/or bainite or further of ferrite is obtained as a transformation product from the deformed .gamma.. As a result, a steel tube having tensile strength of 1000 MPa or more and excellent three-point-bending property can be obtained. The composition of the steel tube of the present invention may further include at least one type of element selected from the group consisting of Cu, Ni, Cr and Mo, or at least one type of element selected from the group consisting of Nb, V, Ti and B, or at least of one type selected from the group consisting of REM and Ca.
Selon l'invention, on soumet un tuyau d'acier possédant une composition comprenant 0,05 à 0,30 % de C, 1,8 à 4,0 % de Mn, Si et Al, à un étirage rétreinte, dans des conditions dans lesquelles le pourcentage de réduction du diamètre est de l'ordre de 20 % ou davantage, et la température au moment de la finition de cet étirage rétreinte est de l'ordre de 800 DEG C ou moins, de façon à convertir ce tuyau d'acier afin qu'il possède une structure comprenant de la martensite et/ou bainite transformées à partir de gamma travaillé et éventuellement de ferrite, que sa résistance à la traction soit de 1000 Mpa ou plus, et qu'il possède d'excellentes caractéristiques de flexion trois points. De préférence, ce tuyau d'acier comprend encore au moins l'un des éléments choisis dans le groupe constitué par au moins un Cu, Ni, Cr et Mo, par au moins un Nb, V, Ti et B, et par au moins un REM et Ca.
