The deodorizing and sterilizing device of the present invention comprises a plurality of catalyst members each having a through hole and disposed at a gap with each other, a cover for tightly sealing the gap between each of the catalyst members and electrodes disposed to the opposing surfaces of the catalyst members for applying a high voltage, and can improve the safety and reduce the size of the device. In a further modified device the present invention, the catalyst member is made of material having electro- conductivity substantially identical with that of the electrode, so that corona discharge is formed in the through hole of the catalyst member as well as between the electrodes, which can maintain the ozone deodorizing and decomposing functions for a long period of time. - 19 -
