This invention provides an agitating apparatus which can exhibit good agitating properties in a wide viscosity range and can shorten the mixing time. The agitating apparatus comprises an agitation tank in a closed-end cylindrical form, a rotating shaft provided concentrically or substantially concentrically within the agitation tank, and a bottom blade which is provided consecutively from the rotating shaft so as to extend in a radial or vertical direction of the agitation tank and has a lower end edge along the bottom wall surface of the agitation tank. The agitating apparatus is characterized in that a clearance is provided between the lower end edge of the bottom blade and the bottom wall surface, and the clearance is provided so as to sat-isfy a requirement of 1% of the inner diameter of the agitation tank < clearance < 4.5% of the inner diame-ter of the agitation tank.

Cette invention propose un appareil d'agitation qui peut présenter de bonnes propriétés d'agitation dans une large plage de viscosités et raccourcir les temps de mélange. L'appareil d'agitation comporte un réservoir d'agitation de forme cylindrique à extrémité fermée, un arbre tournant disposé concentriquement ou sensiblement concentriquement à l'intérieur du réservoir d'agitation, et une pale inférieure qui est disposée de façon adjacente à l'arbre tournant de façon à s'étendre selon une direction radiale ou verticale du réservoir d'agitation et présente un bord d'extrémité inférieur qui longe la surface de la paroi du fond dudit réservoir. L'appareil d'agitation est caractérisé par le fait qu'un jeu est prévu entre le bord d'extrémité inférieure de la pale inférieure et la surface de la paroi du fond, lequel jeu est prévu pour satisfaire à l'exigence suivante : 1 % du diamètre interne du réservoir d'agitation < jeu < 4,5 % du diamètre interne du réservoir d'agitation.
