A railroad freight car brake beam strut assembly including an elongated strut having first and second joined walls. Each wall of the strut defines a bore opening to a hollow center portion and to an exterior of the strut. The bores defined by the walls on the strut accommodate a brake lever pivot pin extending through strut thereby connecting the brake lever to the strut and so as to allow pivoting of the brake lever. Each bore defined by the walls of the strut has a closed marginal edge. One brake pin bushing is accommodated in each bore defined by the strut so as to journal a lengthwise portion of the brake lever pivot pin. The closed marginal edge of each strut bore arranged in juxtaposed relation relative to the end of the brake pin bushing disposed a farthest distance from the axis of the strut defines a plurality of radially spaced stops formed as an integral part of the strut for inhibiting inadvertent axial displacement of the bushings away from the longitudinal axis of and relative to the strut thereby fixing the pivot axis of said brake lever relative to the strut. A method of manufacturing a railroad freight car brake beam strut assembly is also disclosed.
La présente invention concerne un ensemble jambe de tige de frein de voiture de fret par rail comprenant une jambe allongée ayant une première et une seconde parois jointes. Chaque paroi de la jambe définit une ouverture dalésage conduisant à une partie centrale creuse et de là à lextérieur de la jambe. Les alésages définis par les parois sur la jambe logent une broche pivot de levier de frein sétendant à travers la jambe, reliant ainsi le levier de frein à la jambe et permettant ainsi au levier de frein de pivoter. Chaque alésage défini par les parois de la jambe a un bord marginal fermé. Une bague de broche de frein est logée dans chaque alésage défini par la jambe de façon à servir de palier à une partie en longueur de la broche pivot de levier de frein. Le bord marginal fermé de chaque alésage de jambe agencé de façon juxtaposée par rapport à lextrémité de la bague de broche de frein disposée le plus loin de laxe de la jambe définit une pluralité de butées espacées dans le plan radial formées de façon à faire intégralement partie de la jambe pour empêcher tout déplacement axial non souhaité des bagues à lécart de laxe longitudinal de la jambe et par rapport à la jambe, fixant ainsi laxe de pivotement dudit levier de frein par rapport à la jambe. La présente invention concerne un procédé de fabrication dun ensemble jambe de tige de frein de voiture de fret par rail.
