2119036 9306090 PCTABS00021 Disclosed are substituted 3-phenyluracils of formula (I) in which X1 to X4 = O or S; W = optionally substituted -CH=O, -CH=S, -CH=NH, -CH(X3R6)(X4R7), (a), (b), (c), (d) or (e); R6 and R7 = C1-C6 alkyl, C3-C6 alkenyl, C3-C6 alkinyl, C1-C6-alkoxy-C1-C6-alkyl or together a carbon chain; R10 = H, OH, SH, an ether group, a thioether group, optionally substituted C1-C6 alkyl, C3-C6 alkenyl, C3-C6 alkinyl, C3-C7 cycloalkyl, optionally substituted amino or optionally substituted phenyl; R1 = halogen, CN, NO2, or CF3; R2 = H or halogen; R3 = H, C1-C6 alkyl, C3-C6 alkenyl, C3-C6 alkinyl, C3-C8 cycloalkyl, C3-C8 cycloalkylcarbonyl, C1-C6 cyanoalkyl, C1-C6 haloalkyl, C1-C6-alkoxy-C1-C6-alkyl, CHO, C1-C6 alkanoyl, C1-C6 alkoxycarbonyl, C1-C6 haloalkylcarbonyl, optionally substituted amino, optionally substituted phenyl or phenyl-C1-C6-alkyl; R4 and R5 = H, CN, halogen, optionally substituted C1-C6 alkyl, C2-C6 alkenyl, C2-C6 alkinyl, C3-C7 cycloalkyl or optionally substituted phenyl; R5 also = NO2, CHO, C1-C6 alkylcarbonyl, C1-C6 haloalkylcarbonyl, C1-C6 alkoxycarbonyl, or optionally substituted amino or R4 + R5 = an optionally substituted carbon chain; except for R4 = CF3 and simultaneously R5 = H when W = -CH=CH-CO-R10 with R10 = C1-C6 alkoxy or C3-C7-cycloalkoxy; plus the salts and enol ethers of (I) with R3 = H. Use: dessiccation/defoliation of plants; insecticides; herbicides.
