A surgical stapling device for sequentially applying a plurality of fasteners to body tissue and simultaneously incising tissue is provided. The surgical stapling device is adapted to receive disposable loading units having staples in linear rows whose length can be between about 30mm and 60mm. The disposable loading unit includes a proximal body portion, a mounting assembly and a tool assembly. The mounting assembly is secured to the proximal end of the tool assembly and pivotally mounted about a pivot axis to the distal end of the proximal body portion. A support member or blow-out plate assembly is positioned on opposite sides of the pivot avis and extends between the proximal body portion and the mounting assembly. An axial drive assembly is slidably positioned between the support members and is translatable through the cartridge assembly to eject staples from the cartridge assembly. The support members prevent outward buckling of the axial drive assembly during actuation of the device especially when the tool assembly is articulated. Preferably, a protrusion is provided in the proximal body portion of the disposable loading unit at a position to frictionally engage an articulation link. Engagement between the protrusion and the articulation link retains the articulation link at a fixed position within the proximal body portion to maintain the tool assembly in a desired orientation until a predetermined axial force is applied to the articulation link. The disposable loading unit also preferably includes a locking member which is operably connected to the axial drive assembly. The locking member provides an audible and/or tactile indication that the device has been actuated.
L'invention concerne un dispositif d'agrafage chirurgical permettant d'appliquer de manière séquentielle une pluralité d'attaches sur un tissu humain, et d'inciser simultanément ce tissu. Le dispositif selon l'invention est conçu pour recevoir des unités à charges jetables contenant des agrafes disposées en rangées linéaires dont la longueur peut être comprise entre 30mm et 60mm. L'unité à charges jetables comprend une partie corps proximale, un ensemble de montage et un ensemble outil. L'ensemble de montage est fixé sur l'extrémité proximale de l'ensemble outil, et monté pivotant autour d'un axe pivot sur l'extrémité distale de la partie corps proximale. Un élément de support ou un ensemble plaque d'éjection est disposé sur les côtés opposés de l'axe pivot et s'étend entre la partie corps proximale et l'ensemble de montage. Un ensemble d'entraînement axial est disposé coulissant entre les éléments de support, et il peut être déplacé à travers l'ensemble porteur pour éjecter des agrafes de l'ensemble cartouche. Les éléments de support empêchent une déformation vers l'extérieur de l'ensemble d'entraînement axial pendant la mise en marche du dispositif, surtout lorsque l'ensemble outil est articulé. Une saillie est de préférence formée dans la partie corps proximale de l'unité à charges jetables, à un endroit où elle vient en contact de friction avec une liaison d'articulation. Le contact entre cette saillie et la liaison d'articulation retient cette dernière en position fixe à l'intérieur de la partie corps proximale, de sorte à maintenir l'ensemble outil dans un sens désiré, jusqu'à ce qu'une force axiale prédéterminée soit appliquée sur la liaison d'articulation. L'unité à charges jetables comprend également de préférence un élément de blocage relié en fonctionnement à l'ensemble d'entraînement axial. Cet élément de blocage fournit une indication audible et/ou tactile sur le fait que le dispositif à été mis en marche.
