SYNTHETIC PEPTIDES CAPABLE OF STIMULATING A T-CELLULAR IMMUNITY Abstract The S1 subunit regions of pertussis toxin from Bordetella pertussis comprising the antigenic sites recognized by the human T helper clones anti-S1 are described and said sites are characterized. Synthetic peptides having an amino acid sequence corresponding to the sequence of said regions or of the T-epitopes comprised therein are novel. Said peptides, alone or in combination with the immunodominant B- epitope of the pertussis toxin S1 subunit from Bordetella pertussis, are particularly useful as immunogens for manufacturing acellular anti-pertussis vaccines.
