The method includes determining alternate wireless networks (320) available to access by the mobile device (110), ordering the available alternate wireless networks (330) by signal strength, connecting the mobile device to the alternate wireless network with a highest signal strength (340), measuring a quality of the connected alternate wireless network (360) and, when the quality of the connected alternate wireless network is above a predetermined threshold, operating the mobile device over the connected alternate wireless network (380).
