A method and system for creat- ing and navigating linear hypermedia re- source programs are disclosed. The sys- tem includes a distributed hypermedia re- source network (12) having a plurality of hypermedia resources residing on one or more remote information nodes (14). A common remote information node (16) is in communication with a subscriber station (18) and the remote information nodes (14) in the distributed network (12). The common remote information node (16) contains at least one linear hy- permedia resource program consisting of pre-selected media elements from one or more hypermedia resources linked with exclusive linear links, each media ele- ment in the linear program having only one forward link to the next media ele- ment. The method includes the steps of downloading and displaying a media ele- ment in the linear program and respond- ing to user commands to download and display the next media element in the lin- ear program.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un système pour créeres programmes linéaires de ressources d'hypermédia et naviguer sur ces derniers. Ce système comprend un réseau réparti de ressources (12) d'hypermédia avec une pluralité de ressources d'hypermédia résidant sur un ou plusieurs noeuds d'informations à distance (14). Un noeud d'information à distance commun (16) est en communication avec un poste du réseau (18) et les noeuds d'information à distance (14) dans le réseau réparti de ressources d'hypermédia12). Ce noeud d'informations à distance commun (16) contient au moins un programme linéaire deessources d'hypermédia se composant d'éléments de média présélectionnés parmi un ou plusieurs ressources d'hypermédia, liées aux liaisons linéaires exclusives. Chaque élément de média dans le programme linéaire comporte une seule liaison aval avec l'élément de média suivant. Ce procédé comprend les étapes consistant à télécharger et afficher un élément de média dans le programme linéaire et à répondre aux commandes d'utilisateur pour télécharger et afficher l'élémente média suivant dans le programme linéaire.
