An optical transmitter includes a light source and an SBS suppression circuit coupled to the light source. The light source is operable to gnerate an optical signal having one or more wavelengths. The optical signal has a signal spectrum having an upper band limit and a lower band limit. The SBS suppression circuit is operable to communicatea noise current for receipt by the light source. The noise current is operable to broaden the signal spectrum of the optical signal. The light source operates to convert the noise current into a noise component of the signal spectrum that resides between the upper band limit and the lower band limit.

L'invention porte sur un émetteur optique comportant une source lumineuse, et un circuit de suppression de la diffusion stimulée de Brillouin (SBS) relié à la source lumineuse laquelle peut produire un signal optique présentant une ou plusieurs longueurs d'onde. Le spectre du signal optique présente une limite supérieure de bande et une limite inférieure de bande. Le circuit de suppression de la SBS permet de transmettre à la source lumineuse un courant de bruit qui élargit le spectre du signal optique. La source lumineuse convertit le courant de bruit en une composante de bruit du spectre du signal, se trouvant entre la limite supérieure de la bande supérieure et sa limite inférieure.
