ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE System for testing pneumatic tires. A tire (43) that revolves under a load is deformed at the bottom portion (47) in which it meets the roadway (45). Such a deformation results in the tire (43) having an effective rolling radius RE that is shorter than the radius RN it has while static and/or unloaded. According to the invention, tires (57) are tested by determining their effective rolling radii RE. When tires (21), (23) having similar effective rolling radii RE are used on an automotive vehicle 11, the undesirable torque steer effect is thereby reduced.
