A process for target classification in radar systems is described. In particular, for the classification of aircraft types, the blade reptition frequency and in a further step the blade number of a power-plant rotor disk are determined so as to identify the type of power plant. The blade repetition time of the main and tail rotors are determined in order to classify helicopters.
