A composite video input signal is separated into luminance and chrominance components by a signal separation filter and the components are applied to a display processor having a video display device coupled thereto for providing displayed images. For enhancement of detail in dark and light areas of the displayed images, the luminance signal is coupled to the display processor via a non-linear luminance signal processor which provides additional amplification in the dark and light areas but tends also to degrade the signal to noise ratio in those areas. To avoid a loss of signal to noise ratio in the enhanced areas the receiver includes a by-pass circuit for by-passing high frequency components of the luminance signal around the non-linear luminance signal processor and a filter in the non-linear luminance signal processor for attenuating the high frequency components.
Un signal d'entrée vidéo composite est séparé en composantes luminance et chrominance par un filtre de séparation de signal et ces composantes sont transmises à un processeur d'affichage couplé à un dispositif d'affichage vidéo afin de présenter des images sur écran. Pour améliorer le détail des zones sombres et claires des images affichées, le signal de luminance est couplé au processeur d'affichage au moyen d'un processeur de signal de luminance non linéaire, lequel processeur assure une amplification supplémentaire dans les zones sombres et claires mais tend aussi à dégrader le rapport signal-bruit dans ces zones. Pour éviter cette dégradation, le récepteur comprend un circuit de dérivation pour faire passer les composantes HF du signal de luminance en dérivation par rapport au processeur de signal de luminance non linéaire, ainsi qu'un filtre, dans ce processeur, afin d'affaiblir les composantes HF.
