A mold device (10) and method for producing a rough texture on all or a portion of the outward exterior surfaces of masonry block units (50). The device (10) of the present invention is a mold having one or more cavities (22) open at the top (24) and the bottom (25), with a rigid support platform (41) or sheet across the bottom, to hold the masonry mixture in place until discharged through the bottom of the mold. On a portion of the interior sidewalls of the mold, are substantially vertical ribs (26) extending from the interior surface, creating voids in the compacted mixture. An extension or "stripper" unit (27) extends inwardly along the base of the portion of the interior wall containing the vertical ribs (26). A top plate (30) configured to fit removably within the interior walls of the mold cavity (22) is provided to compact the masonry mixture and to push the masonry unit out of the mold and simultaneously clean the mold. As the masonry unit is pushed from the mold (10), the striper extension or bar (27) moves a portion of the compacted partially hardened masonry material, filling in the voids created and left by the ribs (26), and creating a textured surface.
Dispositif de moulage (10) et procédé servant à produire une texture rugueuse sur la totalité ou une partie des surfaces extérieures de blocs de ciment (50). Ce dispositif (10) consiste en un moule possédant une ou plusieurs cavités (22) ouvertes au sommet (24) et au fond (25), une plate-forme (41) ou une plaque de support rigide étant posée sur ce dernier, de manière à maintenir le mélange de ciment en place avant son évacuation à travers le fond du moule. Une partie des parois latérales intérieures du moule présente des nervures pratiquement verticales (26) s'étendant depuis la surface intérieure, ce qui crée des espaces vides dans le mélange comprimé. Une prolongation ou élément d'extraction (27) s'étend vers l'intérieur le long de la base de la partie de la paroi intérieure contenant les nervures verticales (26). Une plaque supérieure (30) conçue pour être placée de façon amovible à l'intérieur des parois intérieures de la cavité (22) du moule sert à comprimer le mélange de ciment et à le pousser hors du moule afin de nettoyer ce dernier simultanément. Lorsqu'on pousse le ciment hors du moule (10) la barre d'extraction (27) déplace une partie du ciment comprimé partiellement durci, ce qui remplit les vides créés et laissés par les nervures (26) et permet d'obtenir une surface texturée.
