A thermal expansion compensation support (40) and method are used in a hot runner injection mold for maintaining liquid-tight relationships between parts that define a flow passageway. The support includes an annular housing (56) having an recess (64) that receives a spring (68), such as a Belleville washer, and a cover (70) that overlies the recess (64) in the housing (56). The housing (56) and the cover (70) are spring biased from each other to maintain a pressure force on the surfaces that are in contact with the outer faces of the cover (70) and housing (56). The support (40) imparts a holding force on the parts of the machine that define the molding material flow passageway to prevent leakage. The method involves holding the parts together at a first holding force level for an initial portion of a warm-up temperature range and holding the parts together at a second holding force level for the remainder of the temperature range.
L'invention concerne un support (40) et un procédé de compensation d'expansion thermique utilisés dans un moule à canaux chauffés afin de conserver les relations d'étanchéité aux liquides entre des parties qui définissent un passage d'écoulement. Ledit support comporte un logement annulaire (56) présentant un évidement (64) destiné à recevoir un ressort (68), tel qu'une rondelle de Belleville, et un couvercle (70) qui recouvre l'évidement (64) du logement (56). Le logement (56) et le couvercle (70) sont sollicités l'un par l'autre par un effet de ressort afin de maintenir une pression sur les surfaces en contact avec les surfaces extérieures du couvercle (70) et du logement (56). Afin d'empêcher toute fuite, le support (40) applique une force de maintien sur les différentes parties de la machine qui définissent le passage d'écoulement du matériau de moulage. Ledit procédé consiste à maintenir les parties ensemble à un premier niveau de force de maintien pour une partie initiale d'une gamme de température de réchauffage et à maintenir les parties ensemble à un second de niveau de force de maintien pour le reste de la gamme de température.
