A gas cap for a thermal spray gun has a spray passage extending from the combustion chamber to an exit end, and a thermal spray material is fed into the passage. A nozzle component of the gas cap is formed of a tubular inner member in thermal contact with a metallic outer member, such as copper, that is in contact with a fluid coolant. The inner member is formed of a hard, thermally conductive material, preferably a carbide in a metal matrix, such as tungsten carbide in cobalt.

Cette invention concerne une buse de pistolet de projection thermique comportant un canal de projection entre la chambre de combustion et la bouche du pistolet, le matériau à projeter étant injecté dans ce canal. La partie ajutage de la buse comporte un élément tubulaire intérieur en contact thermique avec un élément métallique extérieur, en cuivre par exemple, lui-même en contact avec un réfrigérant fluide. L'élément intérieur est fait d'un matériau dur, thermoconducteur, de préférence, un carbure noyé dans une matrice métallique, du carbure de tungstène dans une matrice cobalt, par exemple.
