Thermostable and biologically soluble man-made vitreous fibres obtainable from a melt having a low liquidus temperature and a low crystallisation rate comprising SiO2: 48-64 % by weight, Al2O3: 0.3-4 % by weight, FeO: 6-10 % by weight, CaO: 10-35 % by weight, MgO: 7-20 % by weight, Na2O: 0-10 % by weight, K2O: 0-6 % by weight, the ratio of (Na2O + K2O + 0.1.CaO) to (MgO + FeO) being > 0.15 and (MgO + FeO) being greater than 14 % by weight and (Na2 + K2O) being less than or equal to 10 % by weight.
L'invention concerne des fibres vitreuses chimiques, thermostables et biologiquement solubles, obtenues à partir d'un matériau en fusion à température de liquidus basse et à faible taux de cristallisation, comprenant: 48 à 64 % en poids de SIO¿2?, 0,3 à 4 % en poids de Al¿2?O¿3?, 6 à 10 % en poids de FeO, 10 à 35 % en poids de CaO, 7 à 20 % en poids de MgO, 0 à 10 % en poids de Na¿2?O, 0 à 6 % en poids de K¿2?O, le rapport de (Na¿2?O + K¿2?O + 0,1.CaO) à (MgO + FeO) étant > 0,15, la proportion de (MgO + FeO) étant supérieure à 14 % en poids et la proportion de (Na¿2? + K¿2?O) étant inférieure ou égale à 10 % en poids.
